The Lawrence Institute for Notaries (“LIN”), was founded by Judith (“Judi”) Lawrence and Arthur (“Art”) Werner. Judi is an accredited author and speaker on international documentation throughout the United States.  Headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, LIN was designed to provide educational services to Notaries and Apostille Agents.   LIN offers courses in international documentation including relevant topics including How to Become a PA Notary, the Basics of Apostilles, Remote Online Notarization and becoming a notary entrepreneur.   These virtual and online courses, presented by a team of experts, show students how to expand in the business world by becoming proficient in notary services and eventually increasing a revenue stream.   

We have introduced Apostille Direct USA. This is a networking group allowing students to engage with colleagues and vendors across the country in order to help and engage each other. 

At LIN, we offer courses, events, resources and expert guidance to our students whether in an online or virtual classroom.   In addition, we are scheduling coaching and mentoring services as required. 

At our sister company, Center City Notary & Apostille Co., we handle apostilles 7 DAYS A WEEK. We bring that experience to our LIN students and can teach by the benefit of our hands-on experience.

ONLINE COURSE – including video instructions, quizzes and other resources that you can review as needed. You will learn the processes for both Hague and Non-Hague countries and why it is so important to understand these processes.

MONTHLY LIVE STUDY HALLS - Have questions or challenges - come to our monthly study halls for answers to all your questions as you develop your skills.  This gives students an opportunity to learn with others who are learning the business.

BUSINESS IMPLEMENTATION CALL - a one-time business implementation call with Judi Lawrence.  The purpose of this call is to discuss implementation of what the student learned and evaluate next steps.

NATIONAL DATABASE - We have introduced Apostille Direct USA. This is a networking group allowing students to engage with colleagues and vendors across the country in order to help and engage with each other. 

COURIER SERVICE – We have created a company known as APOSTILLEDIRECTUSA.COM.  This isa company which offers couriers across the country to assist with getting apostilles where needed.

COMPLETION CERTIFICATION

An Apostille is a cover attached to a document which has been authenticated by a Secretary of State and, in some instances, the US Department of State allowing the document to be used in a foreign country. Bound by a treaty signed back in 1961 known as the Hague Convention, documents are authenticated by the Secretary of State from which they originate. If the country of destination is not a member of the Hague, the document(s) then require legalization from the U.S. Department of State.

An authentication or legalization can only be performed by a Secretary of State or the  US Department of State.  The job of an apostille agent is to make sure all documents are in proper form, correctly notarized and properly submitted so that they will not be rejected.

No matter where you are located, you can handle these transactions throughout the USA.

It is not mandatory by law that you be a Notary to be an Apostille Agent.  However, it is highly recommended that to be an Apostille Agent you are also a Notary Public for the following reasons:

• You are aware of Notary Public laws of your state;
• The majority of the documents you receive will require notarization,

Being an Apostille Agent is what we call an "unrestricted fee" revenue stream.  All states in the US have set specific statutes on what notaries may charge for their services, and Secretaries of State have specific fees for apostille, however, when it comes to travel fees, research fees, administrative fees, etc., with document authentication work you are free to set your own fees for everything you do up to completing the Apostille process.
