When One Client Sends 66 Apostilles…
Apr 16, 2025When a single client sends you 66 apostilles to process, it gets people talking, and that’s exactly what happened when I shared the story online last week.
That post reached over 16.7k people, sparked 220 likes, and generated dozens of comments and private messages. Some people wanted to know how I landed such a great client. Others were curious about how much money I made. And many simply wanted to understand how this kind of work is even possible.
So, I thought I’d share a few thoughts, especially for those of you still learning or just stepping into this world.
From One to Sixty-Six
Let’s start with the truth: getting an order for 66 apostilles doesn’t happen every day. But here’s what does happen all the time…
A new client reaches out with a small request. One apostille. Maybe two.
That’s exactly how this particular client started. They had two documents. I answered their questions quickly. I handled the details like a pro. I delivered on time.
That’s what builds trust.
And that trust turned into a second order. Then a third. Until one day, they sent me 66.
It’s not magic. It’s relationship-building.
Why Vetting Clients Matters
Just like clients want to know you’re legitimate, you should be vetting them too. That means:
- Checking their website (if they’re a business)
- Looking for real contact info (email and phone)
- Paying attention to how they communicate
If someone sends you a vague email with no phone number and asks you to quote a rush job, that’s a red flag. Protect your time and your reputation. You get to choose who you work with.
Are You Really Ready?
Now let’s talk about what it takes to handle a big order.
It’s not just about notarizing documents. When those 66 apostilles landed on my desk, I had to:
- Verify the type of documents
- Ask whether they were original or certified copies
- Determine each documents origin
- Determine if they were headed to Hague or non-Hague countries
- Check if translation was needed
- Coordinate timelines and shipping logistics
And yes, I had to make sure everything would be accepted by the Secretary of State, or the correct Competent Authority.
This is where training matters. You don’t want to learn this stuff on the fly when a big job hits your inbox.
Training Is More Than Just Technique
When I teach my apostille courses, I don’t just talk about how to process documents. I teach you how to think like a business owner.
You’ll learn how to:
- Ask the right questions up front
- Spot potential red flags
- Communicate like a professional
